Welcome to the New School Year

July 19, 2019

Dear Adult Student and Family:

Welcome to the school year 2019 - 2020! The first day of school is on August 12, 2019 (Monday). School hours are from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm (Mondays through Thursdays) and 8:30 am - 1:00 pm (Fridays). Camden Post Secondary Program, the adult student’s school placement, is located at 2223 Camden Avenue, San Jose, CA 95124.

This is the program’s third year of operation and it is with pleasure that I inform you of the opening of a new class giving us a total of four (4) classes for this school year. We have two (2) new teachers coming on board as well as the appropriate number of paraprofessionals. Another job developer is coming on board giving us a total of four (4) job developers to help with on the job training of our adult students.

As we start the new school year, I would like to bring to mind the shared vision of the program which is to prepare adult students for a meaningful future as defined by the adult student and family. In keeping with the program vision, collaboration is key. In addition to communicating with the adult student’s case manager through email and classroom telephone, we have also reserved the third Friday of each month,1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, for parents to meet with the adult student’s case manager for person-centered planning, consultation, or problem-solving opportunities as needed and as appropriate.

For transportation needs, please contact Veronica Ramirez directly at the transportation office, 408-558-3092 or 408-371-0960 x 2092 for the student’s bus pick-up and drop off schedule and schedule changes. Also, please see the attached transportation procedures for your reference.

I sent an email to all families this July 18, 2019 (Friday) not only welcoming you to the new school year, but I also attached several required forms to be submitted prior to the first day of school. These forms are attached here for ease of access.

It is an honor and privilege to serve our adult students. Best wishes for the new school year!

Warm Regards,

Ophelia Gomez, Ph.D.
